What time does the event start?
Gates will open at 1:30 p.m. on August 26. Packet pickup and the Celebration Zone will also open at those times.
What time does my child’s race start?
.5 mile; suggested age 5 - 7 - 2:30 pm
1 mile; suggested age 7 - 9 - 3:00 pm
1.5 miles; suggested age 9 - 10 - 3:30 pm
2 miles; suggested age 10 - 11 - 4:00 pm
2.5 miles; suggested age 11 - 12 - 4:45 pm
Can my child run a different distance than what they are registered for?
Yes, your child can choose any distance to participate in the day of the race, regardless of age.
Will onsite registration be available?
Yes, onsite registration will be available for $20.
What happens in case of severe weather?
Race officials may cancel the run in the case of extreme weather or other conditions that may affect the safety and health of the participants. Any changes will be made out of an abundance of caution to ensure that participants and spectators will be able to enjoy the event without the threat of severe weather or unsafe course conditions. In the event of cancellation, the 500 Festival will notify the parents/guardians of registered participants via email and will also communicate the change via social media as well as local media. Where do I park?
Inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the N Lot. The only entrance into Indianapolis Motor Speedway that will be open is Gate 2 off of 16th Street. You will be directed by IMS security to the N lot for free parking.
How do I get my child’s bib and t-shirt?
Packet pickup will be at Indianapolis Motor Speedway starting at 1:30 p.m. on event day in the east chalet in the Plaza Pavilion. There is no pre-event packet pick up.
Where should my child go before his/her race?
Your child will enter the starting corral in the Plaza Pavilion and will be directed to the start line at the yard of bricks.
Can I run with my child?
No, parents or guardians will not be allowed to run with children for the mini-mini or enter the starting corral. The closed course will have volunteers ready to help your child along.
Where can I watch my child compete?
The grandstands next to the Pagoda will be open for viewing.
Where do I meet my child after the race?
Participants will finish in a secured finisher’s area, where they will receive their medals. Parents can meet up with their child in the Guardian Reunion Area in the Plaza Pavilion. Volunteers and IMPD officers will be on hand to help reunite participants with their parents.
Will results be available?
Yes, results will be available online after the event.
Will water stations be available?
Yes, there will be water stations along the longer distance courses.
