When will the event take place?
The 500 Festival mini-mini kids run will not take place in person in 2020. We anticipate the 2021 mini-mini will take place in the Fall of 2021.

What time does my child’s race start?
2:00 pm: 2 Mile Distance Race, ages 11 - 12
2:45 pm: 1.5 Mile Distance Race, ages 9 - 11
3:30 pm: 1 Mile Distance Race, ages 7 - 9
4:15 pm: 0.5 Mile Distance Race, ages 5 - 7

* Please remember to have your child to the starting corrals approximately 15 minutes before their designated race time.

Can my child run a different distance than what they are registered for?
Yes, your child can choose any distance to participate in the day of the race, regardless of age.

Will onsite registration be available?
Yes, onsite registration will be available for $20 in chalets 5-8 from 1-4 pm.

What happens in case of severe weather?
Race officials may cancel, delay or change the run in the case of extreme weather or other conditions that may affect the safety and health of the participants. Any changes will be made out of an abundance of caution to ensure that participants and spectators will be able to enjoy the event without the threat of severe weather or unsafe course conditions. In the event of cancellation, the 500 Festival will notify the parents/guardians of registered participants via email and will also communicate the change via social media as well as local media. Where do I park?
Free parking is available inside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the N Lot. Please enter the Indianapolis Motor Speedway via Gate 2 off of 16th Street. You will be directed by IMS security to the N Lot. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is located at 4790 W. 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46222.

How do I get my child’s bib and t-shirt?
Packet pickup will be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway starting at 1:00 p.m. on event day in the east chalet in the Plaza Pavilion. It is recommended that you arrive at IMS at least 1 hour prior to a participant's race to allow plenty of time for packet pickup. There is no pre-event packet pick up.

Where should my child go before his/her race?
Your child will enter the starting corral. Enter the corrals by heading to the gasoline alley garages located just south of the Pagoda (look for the giant inflatable arch). Participants need to enter the starting corrals approximately 15 minutes prior to their scheduled race time.

Can I run with my child?
No, parents or guardians will not be allowed to run with children for the mini-mini or enter the starting corral. The closed course will have volunteers ready to help your child along.

Where can I watch my child compete?
The grandstands next to the Pagoda will be open for viewing.

Where do I meet my child after the race?
Participants will finish in a secured finisher’s area, where they will receive their medals. Parents can meet up with their child in the Guardian Reunion Area in the Plaza Pavilion. Volunteers and IMPD officers will be on hand to help reunite participants with their parents.

Will results be available?
Yes, results will be available online after the event at

Will water stations be available?
Yes, there will be water stations along the courses. Misting fans and a cooling station will be available for participants and spectators in the Celebration Zone. A water spray station will be on-course and at the finish line for participants. Please remind your mini-mini participant to drink plenty of water during the days leading up to the mini-mini and throughout the race and after the race.
