Virtual Indy Mini and 5K
How does a virtual race work?
Virtual participants can complete their miles wherever they are! Simply run, walk, or wheel your Indy Mini or 5K from your favorite park, trail, or running route! Don’t forget to download the Indy Mini app for amazing features during and after your race. Participants can submit their miles from May 8 – May 23. You can download the app here: https://rtrt.me/app/indy-3miler
How can I submit my miles?
Participants can submit their miles using the NEW Indy Mini app! Simply hit the “start” button when you’re ready to begin your virtual race, and the app will log your pace, splits, and finish time. Learn more here: https://rtrt.me/docs/user-guides/remote-racing?event=INDY-3MILER-2021
What virtual resources will be available?
We plan to roll out virtual resources on a regular basis. Virtual participants can expect digital bibs and finisher certificates, a participant-only Facebook group, selfie frames, and more!
When will I get my virtual participant items?
Participants who register for the Virtual Mini or 5K, or convert their existing registration to virtual BEFORE 3/8/21 should expect their participant items the first week of May. This is not a guarantee, and items could show up later than that.
Most registrations during March should expect their participant items mid to late May. Registrations in April and May can expect their participant items in June or early July.
*these timelines are estimates, and we cannot guarantee exact dates or timeframes.
What is included in my virtual participant goodie box?
All virtual participants will receive their participant shirt, finisher medal, and hat. The first 6,000 virtual Mini participants and first 800 5K participants will receive additional items from our partners, sponsors, and expo vendors.
Can I still run, walk or wheel my virtual race on the Indy Mini course?
The beauty of a virtual race is that you get to pick when and where you participate. However, we strongly encourage you to avoid the official race course for several safety reasons:
1. The roads will not be closed
2. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is private property and will not be open to the public
3. There will be no course support - no pit stops, security, medical, course entertainment
4. We are not able to facilitate social distancing. If several participants still choose to run / walk / jog / wheel the same course at the same time, you will not be adhering to CDC guidelines
Deferral Information
I registered as a Mini Maniac or Greatest Spectacle Challenge participant, will the full registration be deferred?
Mini Maniac and Greatest Spectacle Challenge participants are completing the 500 Festival Virtual Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy, and should receive their Virtual Miler Series shirt and medal in March or April. They will also receive their challenge-specific shirt and medal as well. Because of this, 2021 Mini Maniac participants will be deferred as 2022 Mini participants, and 2021 Greatest Spectacle Challenge participants will be deferred as 2022 Mega Mini participants.
Will I receive any swag items as a deferred participant?
Unless you were registered for the Mini Maniac or Greatest Spectacle Challenge, you will not receive any swag. Mini Maniac participants will receive the Virtual Miler Series and Mini Maniac shirts and medals. Greatest Spectacle Challenge participants will receive the Virtual Miler Series and Greatest Spectacle Challenge shirts and medals.
