500 Festival Announces New Location for the 2017 Miler Series,

presented by OrthoIndy

Popular training series to start and finish at Bankers Life Fieldhouse

INDIANAPOLIS (October 11, 2016)The 500 Festival, a nonprofit organization providing life-enriching events for Indiana and celebrating the legacy of the Indianapolis 500, today announces that the 2017 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy will now start and finish at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis. Previously located at the White River State Park, the Miler Series offers three running and walking events at three unique distances - a 3-Miler, 6-Miler, and 10-Miler.

“The location change to Bankers Life Fieldhouse will allow the 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy, to continue expanding and meeting the growing demand for events with unique distances,” said Bob Bryant, president and CEO, 500 Festival. “By moving the Miler Series to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in 2017, participants will have the added experience of training on more unique courses alongside some of Indianapolis’ most treasured sites.”

Participants who register to walk or run in the 2017 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy, will enjoy three new courses that weave throughout downtown Indianapolis, past such locations as the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument, down Massachusetts Avenue, and around Fountain Square. Each course will begin and end at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. To view the new course maps, click HERE.

The timing and distances of the 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy, are designed to coincide with typical training programs for a spring distance race, such as the 2017 OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon. The 3-Miler, 6-Miler, and 10-Miler are each open to the public and aim to provide participants with an opportunity to get moving and accomplish fitness targets in 2017.

“We are excited to serve as the host site of the 2017 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy,” said Rick Fuson, president and COO, Pacers Sports and Entertainment. ”Bringing the Miler Series to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in 2017 will allow for our organization to play a vital role in the Indianapolis running and walking community and promote our shared initiative to get people moving.”

Those who register for all three events within the Miler Series - which includes the 3-Miler, 6-Miler, and 10-Miler - will earn the title of Podium Finisher and receive a gender specific technical t-shirt and medal. Participants can pre-register for all three races in the 500 Festival Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy, for $40 or on-site for $45.

There is also an opportunity to participate from out of town, by registering for the 2017 Virtual Miler Series. Registration for the Virtual Miler Series is $40 and participants will receive a bib, a gender specific technical t-shirt, and a finisher medal. Virtual Miler Series participants complete the corresponding distance on each race day, from the location of their choice. Participants then submit their race time and photos upon completing the designated distance.
