In 1936, Louis Meyer won the Indianapolis 500. He sped back to Victory Circle to celebrate, and cooled off the only way he knew how... with a bottle of fresh buttermilk. More than 80 years later, the milk bottle has become a staple of victory at the Indianapolis 500, cementing a driver's place in history.
It seemed only fitting that our 20018 Finisher Medal take on the shape of a milk bottle! Defeating 13.1 miles in May is a victory and we're celebrating Indy Mini finishers with a medal that is as unique as our participants. In 2018, all finishers of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon will join this 80+ year tradition, earning a keepsake that pays homage to one of the most iconic moments in all of sports.
