As we begin the New Year, we wanted to pass along some information on what current and potential 2021 participants can expect in the event that we cannot execute the in person component of the 2021 OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K.

All pertinent announcements will be communicated to impacted participants, stakeholders, and volunteers via email. It will also be shared on our social media, websites (www.500festival.com and www.indymini.com) and to the media, as they occur.

Deferrals from 2020

Current 2020 deferred participants have until January 31, 2021, at 11:59 PM EST to claim their 2021 registration. All 2020 deferred participants should have received an email with a link to register. Reminder emails are sent out regularly. If you do not have that information, please email raceinfo@500festival.com. If the deferred registration link is not claimed by January 31, 2021 at 11:59PM EST, the 2020 registration fees will be forfeited and be considered a contribution to the 500 Festival’s free youth health and fitness initiatives.

Current and Potential 2021 Participants

As of today, we’re working with the health department, medical professionals, and community leaders to finalize details on our 2021 events and programs. The safety of our participants, volunteers, staff and the city of Indianapolis is our number one priority.

If the in-person aspect of the Mini and 5K are canceled due to COVID-19, currently registered participants will be given the option between participating virtually, deferring their registration to 2022, or “Lending a Hand” and consider their registration a contribution to the 500 Festival’s free youth health and fitness programs.

There will be no partial or full refunds offered for the event – no exceptions. Please see the Refund and Cancelation Policy section below for more information.

We will give currently registered participants about a month to make this decision. If a decision is not made within that time frame, the 2020 deferred registration fees or 2021 registration fee will be used to support the 500 Festival’s youth programs and initiatives – providing free fitness, health, and educational programs to more than 100,000 Hoosier kids every year.

We are not implementing any price increases this year. If potential participants wait to register, it will be the same price as it is today.

Refund and Cancelation Policy

All entries are non-refundable, no exceptions. Once we receive your entry, you will not receive a refund for any reason, even if you cannot participate. Registered participants acknowledge that their registration is only a license to participate in the event. There is no guarantee as to quality or any element of the scheduled event. The scheduled event may be canceled, shortened, or altered due to weather, other acts of God, terrorism, or for any other reason or reasons within or not within the control of the 500 Festival, whether in whole or in part. There are no refunds for any reason whatsoever.

Every 2021 registered participant is informed of this information twice during the registration process, once on the waiver page, and again on the checkout page. In both instances, participants must initial that they understand this policy. This is a legally binding contract.

RaceRaves published an article that explains what currently registered participants should expect if their race is cancelled. Our no refund policy is incredibly common among races of all sizes.

If you have any questions, please email raceinfo@500festival.com for more information. Be well!
